“You really have to look for the growth companies,” Ron Emerson, the chairman of the British Business Bank, told the Financial Times.
The new bank, which the government launched in October, will focus on aiding companies with the potential for growth by guarantee loans and co-funding investments with other financial entities. The new entity is based on a similar bank that was set up in postwar Germany and that now provides valuable support to much of German industry. Emerson told the Times that the banks investments would “span the whole spectrum from equity to debt.”
